Communism is an ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of a communist society, namely a socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and, in some cases the state. the Communism was proposed by Marx. Marx believed that there are two classes, Oppressed and oppressive and that religions help the oppressive to oppress. He believed in abolishing religions, systems, and private properties. He proposed revolution by the working class against the capitalists. He dreamed creating an equal society. He said "I'd like to be a hunter in the morning, fisherman in the afternoon, critic evening and then play my violin at the end of the day without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, critic or violinist". Communist Manifesto was published in 1848. This was at a time when the industrial revolution was at its peak. There was a much wealth disparities. There were not many labour laws and labourers were treated unfairly. Marx's writings were a rebellion against the social scenario of those days. But his solutions were very naive. He believed that wealth is the only thing that separates the people, and equal distribution of wealth would solve all problems.
Vladimir Lenin took power in Russia. He gave the idea of a one-party authoritarian rule. After Lenin came Joseph Stalin. He initiated his own process of building a communist society. Many were killed in the Stalin era. Historian David Satter states "in total. no fewer than 20 million Soviet citizens were put to death by the regime or died as a direct result of its repressive policies. This does not include the millions, who died in the wars, epidemics, and famines that were predictable consequences of Bolshevik policies, if not directly caused by them.
Mao zeodong and the chineese communist party came to power in 1949. In 1958, he launched the great leap forward that aimed to rapidly transform china from agrarian to industrial economy, which led to deadliest famine and deaths of around 50 million people between 1958-62.In 1966 he initiated a cultural revolution, a program to remove counter-revolutionary elements. Tens of millions of people were persecuted during the Revolution, while the estimated number of deaths ranges from hundreds of thousands to millions. including Liu Shaoqi, the 2nd Chairman of the PRC.
History does not end there, it repeats in North Korea, Cuba, and many other places. Communism promises an ideal society. But the question is who will tie the bell to the cat? For communism to happen the whole power should rest with a few leaders and the party. History tells us that has only led to genocides, poverty, and loss of freedom. People say that Communism has been done in the wrong way till now. According to Jordan B Peterson, a famous clinical psychologist, these people are saying they will be able to do it the right way. That is highly narcissistic.
